As part of the “We are reading IN Salford” initiative, Salford CLCnet became involved in a competition for primary school children to design an online game based on Michael Morpurgo’s Kensuke’s Kingdom.

The winning designs were submitted by pupils from St Paul’s (Crompton Street) CE Primary and Westwood Park Primary School. These were developed into games by one of Salford CLCnet’s commercial partners; Clear Creative. The young designers spent an afternoon at Buile Hill CLC learning from Clear Creative’s designer, Craig, how he had converted their ideas into Flash games and, of course, testing the games.

Alison Elkin of Salford’s School Improvement Service had organised the project for “We are reading” and she, teachers from the schools and Anne Shaw, manager of Buile Hill CLC, also tried their hands at playing the games – with much less success than the students, it must be said!
